Training and Mentoring

Once upon a time, Managers and Superintendents had ample time to personally coach and mentor their junior engineers. However, the demands of modern business have shifted, with senior personnel often consumed by meetings and other critical responsibilities. So, what’s the difference between mentoring and coaching? Mentoring draws from experience—mentors speak from the wisdom gained through years of hands-on practice. Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on guiding without needing to have personally performed the specific role. Think of a sports coach who hasn’t necessarily played at a professional level, yet still brings immense value through strategy and development.

In mining engineering, we are fortunate to have a wealth of experience at our disposal. Our two Directors each bring over 30 years of knowledge and insight to the table. Mentoring is one of the most effective ways to pass on this wealth of experience to our younger engineers, ensuring they grow both technically and personally in the ever-evolving industry.

If you're looking to support the growth of your engineers, whether in technical, behavioral, or personal development, reach out to Mark or Glenn. They are more than happy to discuss ways to nurture your team and ensure they are equipped to be more effective and impactful in their roles.
